This is my first foray into WordPress.org-style website building, and this is my first blog post! Please excuse me as I figure it all out and get it into tip-top shape!
Just to give you a little bit of background, I started a personal website way back in 2010, when I was looking for my first job. Back then, with limited skill I could really only manage a Google Site. It wasn’t pretty or complicated, but it was an incredibly interesting project to introduce me to everything from site architecture, to registering a domain, to Google Analytics.
And really, even that wasn’t my first website. For that, we’d have to look back at the blog I wrote when I was studying abroad at Royal Holloway, University of London (pictured as the featured image for this post) in 2009, Notes from London. In that case, it was all about the content — I had a defined audience that was going to read, regardless of how ugly the presentation was!
But this, my first WordPress.org site, is a big leap. Figuring out everything from hosting to installing a WordPress theme, in addition to the Google Analytics etc., and of course the creation compelling content, will be a big challenge. But so far, so good!
