Anakena Beach: Easter Island

Ahu and fallen moai at Anakena Beach, Easter Island

Anakena Beach, Easter Island: On Easter Island, there was really only one “swimmable” beach, and it featured this incredible example of an ahu, including the statues’ pukao (red hats). Interesting to note that in the fall of the island civilization, all moai (statues) were torn down. Any standing today have were re-placed on their ahu.
